The startup Metafarmers, founded by researchers from Professor Ahn Sung-Hoon’s lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University, announced on the 15th that it has received an Innovation Award at CES 2025, the world’s largest technology exhibition. The CES Innovation Award, organized by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), recognizes products and services that contribute to technological advancement and design innovation.

Metafarmers won the award in the 'Food & AgTech' category by introducing 'Metafarmer', which proposes an agricultural automation solution based on artificial intelligence (AI) robots.

The company’s flagship product, the AI Agricultural Robot Metafarmer is equipped with a specialized gripper for precise harvesting. This robot utilizes adaptive AI algorithms to perform optimally in various farm environments and integrates with the remote control software Tapfarmers for real-time monitoring and task management. Such technological innovations have significantly enhanced efficiency in agricultural operations.

Metafarmers is also committed to addressing climate change, actively participating in climate-tech startup incubation programs. As part of these efforts, they are developing robotic automated pollination technology to counter the decline in bee populations caused by the climate crisis. Currently implemented in strawberry farms, this technology is expected to expand to a variety of crops in the future.
