Prof. Sung-Hoon Ahn and Seung Hwan Ko elected as regular members of the Korea Academy of Science and Technology

28 newly elected fellow members of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology, ‘the highest authority of scientific and technological personnel'

Professor Sung-Hoon Ahn and Seung Hwan Ko of our department were simultaneously selected as full members

The Korean Academy of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as the Academy of Science and Technology), the highest academic institution in the field of science and technology, announced the 20th that it had elected 28 regular members for the year 2023 at the '2022 2nd regular general meeting' held the 7th. Full member of the Academy of Science and Technology is an honor given to those who have been active in the field of science and technology for more than 20 years and have produced and contributed to leading research results.

In the Engineering area, Seoul National University Professor Seung Hwan Ko, a world-renowned scholar in the field of mechanical intelligent nanostructures, Professor Il-Han Kwon, Hanyang University, a world-renowned researcher in the field of waste treatment, Professor Kwang-Ho Kim, Pusan National University, a world-renowned researcher in the field of hybrid materials, Professor Jae-Guk Kim, Chonnam National University, a world-renowned researcher in the field of secondary batteries, Professor Jae-Hyung Park, Sungkyunkwan University, an excellent expert in the field of biomedical polymers, Professor Sung-Hoon Ahn of Seoul National University, a leader in materials, design, and manufacturing; Professor Hyung-Jun Cha of POSTECH, researcher in molecular biotechnology in the field of biomaterials; Professor Heung-Nam Han of Seoul National University,  researcher in the field of structural metal materials; were selected.
Full members of the Academy of Science and Technology select scientists and engineers who have been active in the field of science and technology for more than 20 years, have produced leading research results and have significantly contributed to the development of the field through a strict three-step screening process. In particular, for the 10 representative papers published as the corresponding author (corresponding author), the excellence and originality of research achievements, academic influence and contribution will be evaluated.
On January 13th, 2023, the Academy plans to hold the ‘Admission Ceremony for New Regular Members in 2023’ at the Academy Hall andline to introduce the research and achievements of the new members. Yuuk-jun, Director of the Korea Academy of Science and Technology, said, “Regular members are strictly elected after a qualitative and comprehensive evaluation of their contributions to academic and industrial development and human resource development by reflecting the characteristics of each academic discipline.” As much as we recruited, based the active participation of members, we will make efforts to expand the role and social contribution of the Academy as well as the development of science and technology in Korea,” he emphasized.
