1. Application for an extension of the deadline for submitting thesis (simple extension)
(Entered before 2013) Master's and Ph.D. students who apply for a simple extension of the thesis submission deadline (4 years of master's degree and 6 years of doctor's degree) can extend the submission deadline by up to 2 years after going through deliberation by the Graduate School Academic Affairs Committee. Therefore, corresponding students, please fill out (Attachment 1) and submit the documents to the Administrative office of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (301-116, srchu@snu.ac.kr) by January 20, 2023 (Fri). (For those who completed their master's degree in February 2019 and those who completed their doctorate in February 2017, the thesis submission deadline is February 2023.)
(Entered after 2014) Changes to internal regulations thesis submission deadline
- Master's course from 2014: within 3 years after completion of the course (the period of military service obligations is not included)
- Ph.D. course from 2014: Within 5 years after completion of the course (the period of military service obligations is not included)
(For those who completed their Ph.D. in February 2018, the thesis submission deadline is February 2023, so must apply for an extension this time)
- From 2014wards, when applying for an extension after the thesis submission deadline has expired, you can apply for an extension up to 2 times within 1 year [Result of Academic Affairs Committee meeting February 25, 2021]
* Documents to be submitted (Attachment 1): Application for extension of the deadline for submitting a dissertation thesis (the head of the department can be left empty and submitted)
2. Application for registration of research students who have exceeded the deadline for thesis submission
In order to give the opportunity to submit a thesis for master's and doctoral course students who have exceeded the thesis submission deadlines specified in Article 11, Paragraphs 2 and 3 of the 「Regulations Degree Conferment」 (4 years for master's, 6 years for doctoral students, each can be extended by 2 years), we inform of the registration application guide for overtime research students (3 years) (Attachment 2). Please submit the document to mechanical engineering administration office (301dong 116ho, srchu@snu.ac.kr) by January 20, 2023.

3. In addition, students who have been given a two-year chance to submit their thesis before 2012.03.01 but have not completed their thesis within the deadline and seek to obtain approval for an additionale-year extension, please fill out<Attachment 4> and submit documents to the Administration Office of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (Bldg. 301 Room 116, srchu@snu.ac.kr) by January 20, 2023 (Fri).

<Thesis Submission Deadline>
- The period of military service is excluded, but in order to be recognized, evidential documents must be submitted and approved at the end of the extension of the deadline for submitting a dissertation.
