Flow measurements in the Ludwieg Tube will be done using a new 3-D
Velocimetry system. The system has been successfully used in subsonic facilities by other researchers at Caltech. Current research has been
done into expanding the capabilities of this system to allow for more
accurate measurements in supersonic flow, where high velocity and
density gradients exist. The system has been used for profilometry and
basic velocity measurements. Both an overview of the velocimetry
system and the current results will be presented, with an emphasis on
error analysis. In addition, future work focusing on transverse injection of sonic flow and shock wave - boundary layer interactions will be discussed.
