1. 제목 : New Transportation Systems for the Cities of Tomorrow, Based on Cybernetic Cars
2. 연사 : Yoram Zvirin
(Professor, Sylvia and Alexander Hassan / Washington Chair in Energy Conversion Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Technion, Israel Institute of Technology)
3. 일시 : 2001년 9월 14일 (금요일) 16:00
4. 장소 : 한양대 공업센터 4층 세미나실
5. 내용 : In many urban environments, the combination of traditional public transportation systems and the use of private automobiles has led to severe problems of congestion, pollution, energy and general degradation of the quality of life. A new approach for mobility in cities is emerging now as an alternative solution, offering convenience, flexibility and much less nuisances: a transportation system, based on small automated vehicles, which complements mass transit and non-motorized transport, providing passenger service for any location at any time. These systems are viable now, with the development of novel technologies for the vehicles and for the infrastructure. The contribution of such systems to the air quality in city centers will be enormous, since they are based on non-polluting electric vehicles. The systems offer immense improvements of environmental quality, in the wide sense of the term: not only improving air quality, but also, for example, providing better mobility and safety, and improving the quality of life in general. The lecture includes discussion of the general concept of the system and description of several of the automated vehicles (“cyber cars”) that have been developed and tested.
