On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 3 PM, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University successfully held a mini symposium titled “Techne & Poiesis: Creating Machines, Moving Art” at the Seoul National University Museum Auditorium.
The symposium aimed to illuminate the intersection of mechanical engineering and art. Three distinguished speakers—Professor Lee, Jinjoon(KAIST Graduate School of Culture Technology), typographer and designer Yu, Jiwon, and architect Hah, Tesoc (CEO of SCALE Architecture)—shared their insights on the beyond the barrier between technology and art.
The talks spanned a range of topics including the creative role of machines, body-aware typography, and kinetic architecture for future cities. Undergraduate and graduate students in attendance actively engaged in a meaningful exchange during the Q&A sessions, making the event more enriching.
This event, which explored the potential for convergence between engineering and art, concluded successfully and offered students a fresh perspective on interdisciplinary collaboration.
