The "9th SNU-UTokyo Joint Workshop on Diverse Mechanical Engineering", co-hosted by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University (SNU) and the University of Tokyo (UTokyo), was successfully held on February 20, 2025, at Room 306 of Building 301 in SNU’s College of Engineering.
This workshop covered a wide range of research fields, including Fluid & Thermal Engineering, Robotics & Control, and Solid Mechanics & Nano/Bio, serving as a meaningful platform for both universities to share their latest research achievements.
From SNU, Professor Ho-Young Kim, the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, along with 17 faculty members, attended the event. From UTokyo, Professor Yuji Suzuki, the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, led a delegation of 14 faculty members and researchers, facilitating active discussions throughout the sessions.
In particular, the Fluid & Thermal Engineering session, chaired by Professor Hyungrok Do (SNU), featured discussions on autonomous robots, fluid flow optimization, and complex flow visualization techniques. The Robotics & Control session, led by Professor Takuma Ito (UTokyo), showcased research on wearable robots, remote operation technologies, and traffic accident prevention systems. Additionally, the Solid Mechanics & Nano/Bio session, hosted by Professor Eita Tochigi (UTokyo), introduced cutting-edge studies on CO₂ conversion using nanocatalysts and Hot Liquid Marbles.
Through this joint workshop, SNU and UTokyo reaffirmed their commitment to ongoing academic exchange and research collaboration. The next workshop is scheduled to be held at the University of Tokyo.
