Professor Sung-Hoon Ahn from the Department of Mechanical Engineering assumed office as the 30th President of the Korean Society for Precision Engineering (KSPE) on January 1.

As an expert who has significantly contributed to research and industrial advancements in the field of precision engineering, Professor Ahn is expected to lead the society’s operations and drive innovation in the field.

Founded in 1984, KSPE is one of the leading academic societies in the field of engineering in Korea. Each year, approximately 3,000 members participate in the society’s Spring and Fall conferences, as well as international conference, PRESM (Precision Engineering and Sustainable Manufacturing). The society currently publishes four English journals and one Korean journal, actively promoting academic research achievements on a global scale.

Notably, KSPE received the Minister’s Award from the Ministry of Science and ICT on December 18 for its outstanding management of academic journals, reaffirming its prestigious status in the academic community.

In his inaugural address, President Ahn emphasized, "Precision engineering is a key field that bridges industry and academia, pursuing both technological innovation and sustainability." He added, "I will work to strengthen the society’s global network and research achievements, making meaningful contributions to both domestic and international academia and industry."
