The Korea Academy of Engineering, Korea's most prestigious organization in the field of engineering, selected 45 new regular members for next year and announced it the 28th. In the final list, 21 experts from industry and 24 experts from academia were named. Regular members of the Academy of Engineering are called the 'Hall of Fame in Engineering'.

In the industry, 'Samsung CEOs' joined in a row. Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Jong-Hee Han, Samsung Electronics President Kye Hyun Kyung, and Samsung Electronics President Dong-Jin Koh, who were recently promoted from executive positions, became full members of the Electrical and Electronic Information Engineering Department. Vice Chairman Han was recognized for leading the development of a quantum dot (QD) material-based TV, and President Kyung was recognized for leading the development of the world's first three-dimensional vertical flash memory. KT CEO Hyun-mo Koo and SK Hynix CEO Kyo-Won Jin were also selected as regular members of the same department. In academia, Yongchan Kim, Dean of Korea University College of Engineering, Jae-Jun Kim, Hanyang University professor, and Doo-Hwan Bae, chair professor at KAIST, respectively, became full members of the mechanical engineering, construction and environmental engineering, and electrical and electronic information engineering departments.

Enrollment conditions are strict for regular members of the Academy of Engineering. Those under the age of 65 must have at least 15 years of engineering-related experience among experts from academia and industry to be eligible. After examining their academic achievements, the world's first technological development achievements, patents, talent cultivation, and contribution to industrial development for about 10 months, new members are selected through a vote of all members. If you become a full member, you will receive special treatment in 27 countries around the world where the Academy of Engineering is located.

A total of 84 members were selected, including 40 from academia and 44 from industry. Hak-dong Kim, Vice Chairman of POSCO, and Byung-gyu Jang, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Krafton, were newly appointed. With this new member appointment, the number of regular members of the Korean Academy of Engineering has increased to 294 and general members to 360.
