The “SHRM-SD” team, composed of master’s program students Donghyu Lee and Seungyun Lee, from the Laboratory for System Health & Risk Management lead by Professor Byeng Dong Youn of Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University received the grand prize (1st place) award at Heart Disease AI Datathon 2021 hosted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Information and Communication and the National Intelligence Service (NIA). 

This competition is an AI diagnostic modeling contest that uses echocardiography and ECG datasets for artificial intelligence learning as part of the 2021 Artificial Intelligence Learning Data Construction Project, and SHRM-SD team participated in the "Development of an arrhythmia diagnostic AI model using an electrocardiogram dataset" organized by Seoul National University Hospital.

Regarding the award, Byeng Dong Youn added, "This competition showed the possibility that industrial artificial intelligence-based PHM technology, which has been developed around the manufacturing industry, could be a leading technology in medical and healthcare fields such as cardiovascular diagnosis."
