The “Honne” team, consisting of Master's Degree Students Dong-Hyu Lee, Tae-Hoon Kim, Jin-Oh Yu, and Seung-Yoon Lee, from the Laboratory for System Health & Risk Management of Professor Byeng Dong Youn, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Seoul National University has won the Excellence Award (2nd place) at the 2021 POSTECH Open Innovation Big Data Challenge co-hosted by POSTECH Open Innovation Big Data Center (OIBC) and H Energy.

The competition was conducted in a way that, by tying up photovoltaic power plants with a capacity of less than 1 MW scattered around the country, a virtual power plant with a capacity of 20 MW or more was formed, and the amount of power generated for the next 24 hours of the virtual power plant was predicted using weather forecast data. Incentives were given according to the error rate between the predicted and actual power generation by each team every hour. By comprehensively evaluating both the quantitative aspect of the accumulated incentive score for 10 days of the final competition and the qualitative aspect of the creativity of the algorithm used to solve the problem, the final ranking was decided.
