1^st Ever SNU Laboratory Venture Start-Up CEO Professor Heui Jae Pahk Appointed the Strategic Planning Director of MOTIE   <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

SNU Precision CEO Heui Jae Pahk (52) was appointed as the 2^nd Strategic Planning Director of MOTIE last 18^th. MOTIE Minister Sang Jik Yoon claimed on the 17^th, “CEO Pahk is an important figure who has the ability to set up R&D strategies as well as provide directions for investments. He established a new industry leads instead of chases and is the best person to support SMEs to grow into MNCs.”

New director Pahk set up the first laboratory venture start-up ‘SNU Precision’ during his time as a professor in 1998 with 4 other students, which was listed in KOSDAQ in 2005, an exemplary case of commercialization to R&D.

SNU Precision started off manufacturing LCDs and display equipment, and has now expanded its business to semiconductors and solar panels. With over 300 employees currently, they are exporting to over 20 companies in 10 countries.

Director Pahk said “We started from scratch, developing the fundamental technology to commercializing it. I feel the knowledge and experience I gained while securing a global level of competitiveness was the reason I was appointed for this position, which I now feel is my mission.I will increase support towards SMEs to improve their research capabilities so as to allow them to achieve global competitiveness.”

Director Pahk once garnered some attention through a donation of 10 thousand copies of his personal stock (8 billion won worth) to SNU Engineering.
