Professor Ho-Young Kim Receives the Sin Yang Engineering Award

Professor Ho-Young Kim of our faculty showed excellent research progress in the Micro Fluid Mechanics sector, not only showing academic progress but also the progress of our university, and received the Sin Yang Engineering Award last 26th of November.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The Xin Yang Engineering award was established by an Alumni of SNU Engineering and founder of Taesung Rubber Chemicals and Sinyang Cultural Foundation President, Seok Kyu Jung for young professors. The award, named after president Jung, is given to a professor being promoted to assistant and full-time professors who shows the most excellent achievements. Established in 2005, the 10th award was given out this year, with a total of 57 awardees. The establishment of this award has been a great support to the research activities and morale of young professors.

The awardees of the 2014 Sin Yang Engineering Award include Professor Jin Baek of Architecture from the education sector, Professor Hyung Bo Shim of Electrical engineering, Professor Ho-Young Kim of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Professor Tae Kyung Kwon of Computer Science from the academics sector and Professor Ki Yoon Yoo of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Professor Heung Nam Han of Material Engineering and others, totaling 6 from the newly formed School-Corporation Collaboration Sector. The Sin Yang Engineering Research funds were also given to the awardees.

President Seok Kyu Jung who established the Sin Yang Engineering Award graduated SNU Chemical Engineering in 1952, where he went on to sell the company he had been growing for 50 years in 2001 to set up the Sin Yang Cultural Foundation and donated the Sin Yang Academic Information center building 1,2 and 3 to SNU, libraries that contained the latest information retrieval rooms and reading rooms. Additionally, in 2005, the Sin Yang Cultural Foundation was moved to the Shin Yang Academic Information Center in school to officially set up a scholarship program which was commissioned to SNU last year.
