The Global Solar Volunteer Corps of our faculty held a restoration operation for the damages caused by the Nepal earthquake from last 4^th to 12^th of January.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The team has rebuilt the primary school destroyed by the April earthquake in 2015 to withstand future earthquakes at the Narjamandap Village located in the Nuwakot region, 4 hours north-west from Kathmandu, 1300 meters above sea level. They have also built 6 classrooms in 2 eco-friendly buildings with the help of the locals, installed solar panels and led lightings and a kitchen run from the collection of bio-gasses produced in the toilets.

They also installed 2 Korean-style vinyl houses in 2 farming regions to increase yield and plans for an income increase, along with highly trustworthy vaccine refrigerators that run on reserve power from solar energy, hence creating a vaccine hub in the mountainous region, where vaccine will be delivered by drones. The team tested small scale vaccine refrigerators run from motorcycle power and GPS tracked vaccine carriers as well.

Vaccinations were carried out through the cooperation of locals and the international Vaccine Institute and through the period of 2 days, 1000 locals were given a medical camp. Science camps were also held for middle and high school students of the region.

Participants of this charity program included Professor Sung-Hoon Ahn (Head of the Global Solar Volunteer Corps), Professor Won-Shik Chu, Doctorate Kyung-Tae Lee (Graduated from SNUMAE, International Representative of IDIM), Shiva Raj Poudel (Graduated from SNUMAE, Member of SNU IGSR) Masters Student LI TIELIN, Masters Student Jeong wook Moon, Undergrad Nam Kyu Woo, Won Nyeong Park, Dae Hyun Kim from SNUMAE. Participants from other faculties and organizationa include Jun Yeong Lee (electrical), Seung Ju Kim (Materials), Yeong Hwa Mo (English Education), Ji Sook Seo (Economics), Professor A. Bhattachan from IVI, Han Yang university Charity Group (Professor Seon Young Lee) and the Kyeong Sang University Charity Group (Professor Cheol Gi Song), totaling 27 members for the project.

The funds and aids came from the National Research Foundation of Korea (ODA Business), SNU IGSR and SNU 기독교수협의회, The Han Yang University CK Business Group, College of Engineering, Innovation Center for Engineering Education and the LINC Business Group. Local Support came from Professor Binayak Bhandari(SNUMAE Graduate, Woo Song University Professor).

The Global Solar Volunteer Corps started off in from our faculty as the Nepal Solar Volunteer Corps, has been initiating the holistic regional development plans in 5 locations in Nepal, in China, Vietnam Laos and other countries to develop the Living, Farming, Health, Medical and Educational environments through renewable energy.
