[Issue] Professor Kim, Ayoung of our department received the 34th Science and Technology Excellence Paper Award from the Korea

Professor Kim, Ayoung from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University received the 'Science and Technology Excellence Paper Award' at the '34th Annual Science and Technology Excellence Paper Awards Ceremony' held at the Korea Science and Technology Center on the 11th. The awarded paper focuses on autonomous driving technology in unstructured environments such as rough terrains, utilizing the fusion of LiDAR sensors, inertial sensors, and GNSS signals to estimate the robot's position. Unlike conventional technologies that rely heavily on the device's performance by using only 3D position information extracted from GNSS receivers, this research directly utilizes raw GNSS measurements in the observation model, significantly reducing position estimation errors. In particular, the sensor model was improved by predicting GNSS measurement uncertainties in environments with high occlusion, recognized through LiDAR.
