[Issue] PhD candidate KIM Yong Chae, won first place in the CAE and Applied Mechanics Division Student Competition at the Kore

KIM Yong Chae a doctoral candidate in Professor Youn, Byeng Dong's Autonomous AI Research Lab at Seoul National University, won the first prize in the Computational and Applied Mechanics (CAE) Division Student Competition at the 2024 Spring Academic Conference of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers, held in Jeju Island on May 3rd.


The competition featured a total of 20 students from various universities including Seoul National University, KAIST, and Korea University. Each presenter summarized their research and responded to questions from the judging panel. KIM Yong Chae a doctoral candidate presented on "Tool Wear Prediction of CNC Milling Machine Based on Transformer Using Physical Knowledge," integrating artificial intelligence with physical knowledge to predict the lifespan of machine tools, considering various uncertainties that can arise in industries. His presentation received excellent evaluations for its innovative approach in combining AI and physics to predict the lifespan of machine tools effectively.
