Professor Hwang, Wontae from the Department of Mechanical Engineering has been awarded the Namheon Academic Award by the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers. The Namheon Academic Award was established to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of thermal and fluid engineering, thereby advancing academic development. The award is based on the proceeds from a fund donated by former president Taek-Sik Lee (pen name: Namheon) in 1993, with recipients being selected and honored since that year.

Prof. Hwang, Wontae was recognized for his significant contributions to the advancement of fluid engineering in Korea, notably through his numerous excellent research papers, including "Investigation of the relationship between the 3D flow structure and surface heat transfer within a realistic gas turbine blade trailing edge internal serpentine cooling channel."
