[SNU OIA] For Research Students in Spring 2023

Greeting from (OIA),
Please apply as a research student in Feb, and extend your sojourn period if you are going to stay in Korea for your thesis activities. (D-2 holders only)
※ Even if you go back to your country and write your thesis for graduation, please extend your period of stay first and re-enter Korea before the expiration date if you are willing to come back to Korea later.
We will report your status (expiration of your sojourn period) to Immigration and you need to leave Korea as of March 31, 2023, unless you extend your period of stay in time.
※ Please finish your extension no later than Mar 24 (Friday) 2023 online (online application via hikorea is highly recommended, not available for the in-person visit at the moment unless you made a reservation).
※ For your information, You can stay in Korea with your D-2 for 5 years in total from your admission for Master's, 7 years for Ph.D.(8 years for Master-Ph.d. Combined students) (No further extension accepted)

○ Required Documents for the extension
1) Confirmation Form for Faculty Advisor a Student's Thesis/Graduation Test/Credit Schedule (See attachments)
2) Certificate of Research Student + Certificate of Completion + Certificate of Enrollment
3) Proof of Residence ex) Lease Contract or Dormitory Certificate
4) Bank Statement issued by Bank in Korea (More than 6,000,000 KRW)
5) Transcript
○ Procedure for the Extension of Period of Stay
1) Prepare the documents above and visit OIA
2) After reviewing the documents, the person in charge at OIA will sign the document
※ Obtain your advising professor's signature first
3) Applyline or visit (MUST make a reservation before visit)
4) Extension of your Stay // Supplement documents if rejected (and contact OIA as well)
