[Graduate School] Ph.D. Thesis Advisory Committee Report Submission announcement(by 22nd July)            <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

To submit a doctorate dissertation Examination application form, the Thesis Advisory Committee needs to be organized within 6th semester after entering in the doctoral program, and within 8th semester after entering in the combined MS/Ph.D., and must submit the Committee result report at least 6 months before submitting the dissertation.

1) Applicable students are to submit the Thesis Advisory Committee Members report(Form 1 of attached) to the ME office by 22nd July (Fri) (301-116) to officer Simryoung Park.

* Doctorate Course : Students entered before 2013 September(inclusive) (within 6 months of enrollment)
* Combined Masters/Doctorate Course : Students entered before 2012 September(inclusive) (within 8 months of enrollment)

2) Students preparing for graduation in 2017 February but have yet to hold the Thesis Advisory Committee must hold it at least once by the end of August.

- Students who have already held the Thesis Advisory Committee presentation must submit their Thesis Advisory Committee Result report(Form 3 of attached) by 22nd July (Fri).
- Students who have yet to hold the presentation are to email the person in charge (sryoung@snu.ac.kr) regarding their scheduling with the name list for their committee and their current situation.

ME Ph.D. Thesis Advisory Committee internal regulations [amended 2014.01.21]

-       Students entered before 2013(inclusive) are required to set up their committee within 6 semesters (8 semesters for combined masters/doctorate course) of enrollment and hold the presentation 6 months before the submission of their dissertation.

-       Students entered after 2014(inclusive) are required to set up their committee within 6 semesters (8 semesters for masters/doctorate combined course) of enrollment and hold the presentation on the corresponding semester.

Ph.D. Thesis Advisory Committee [amended 2014.01.21]
1. (Purpose) To ensure an effective dissertation guidance through the setting up of Thesis Advisory Committee do discuss research plans and guide research.

2. (Configuration) The Committee shall consist of 3 members who are professors or experts in the academic or research fields (including advisory professor, a Chair of the committee).
Replacement of committee members must follow the configuration procedures.

3. (Number of presentations and period) Students are required to set up their committee within 6 semesters (8 semesters for masters/doctorate combined course) of enrollment and hold the presentation on the corresponding semester. [amended 2014.01.21]

4. (Reviewable Matters) The Committee shall review the research plan for dissertation, advise regarding dissertation, advise and approve regarding change of research plan for dissertation, and also advise dissertation (pre-)examination. [amended 2014.01.21]

5. (Disbanding) The committee disbands after the submission of Thesis Advisory Committee result report and the Committee members are then appointed as members of the dissertation Examination committee members. [amended 2014.01.21]

(Overdue Measures) Students who enrolled before the amendment are advised to set up their committee within 6 semesters (8 semesters for combined masters/doctorate course) of enrollment and are recommended to hold the presentation on the corresponding semester.
