On December 16th, Seoul National University's Department of Mechanical Engineering successfully held a joint symposium in collaboration with the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and the Port Kembla Hydrogen Hub. The symposium featured workshops and lab tours with professors from UNSW's Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, providing a pivotal opportunity to enhance cooperation and exchange in the field of mechanical engineering between the two countries.

The visit to the Port Kembla Hydrogen Hub, located near Sydney, allowed participants to observe the current status of the future hydrogen energy complex development. In-depth discussions were held on how hydrogen energy can be integrated into steel production processes. Notably, innovative technologies combining the steel industry with hydrogen production drew significant attention, offering a meaningful direction for the integration of sustainable energy and manufacturing technologies.

At UNSW's research facilities, participants observed firsthand how advanced technologies in mechanical and manufacturing engineering are applied in practice. This visit is expected to further invigorate research collaborations between Korea and Australia.

This event provided an important opportunity to expand the potential for advancements in mechanical engineering and hydrogen energy fields. It also laid the groundwork for ongoing research and educational exchanges between the two nations.
