5. Abstract : The seminar will cover several application areas of imaging and image processing with emphasis on visualization. More specifically, the topic includes visualization of human anatomy (medical imaging), concrete structures (non-destructive testing) and real 3-D objects and the enabling technologies, such as tomography, video compression and streaming media. Some new results in non-destructive testing, video compression as well as 3-D object visualization will be presented. In addition, several exemplary visualizations will be demonstrated, namely fast browsing of 3-D medical images as well as real-time visualization and manipulation of real 3-D objects. Those interested in the areas of vision, visualization and image processing are welcome to attend.
