The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University hosted a STAR LECTURE on July 29^th at the Engineering Building 301 - Room 105, with the invited distinguished Professor Steven Schmid of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte Belk-Woodward, under the topic "Overview of Orthopedic Implant Research."

 

Professor Steven Schmid is a globally renowned scholar in the fields of materials processing, mechanical design, and manufacturing processes, and is widely known as a co-author of the major textbook Manufacturing Processes for Engineering Materials. During this seminar, he discussed innovative manufacturing technologies and the development of advanced implant systems in the orthopedic industry, addressing the challenges posed by an aging society. He also provided mechanical engineering and biomedical students with insights into new research directions and the real-world applicability of their studies.
