On last May 18^th, Dr. Jinwook Koh of the System Integrity and Risk Management Lab (Advisor Byung-Dong Yoon), Department of Mechanical Engineering, Seoul National University, received the 2023 Excellent Thesis Award in the CAE and Applied Mechanics category of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers. The thesis was selected because it was thought to contribute greatly to the development of the relevant discipline and technology as an original research topic.
The thesis title is "Deep-learning-based methodology for macro and micro-level fault diagnosis of rotating machinery using low and high-resolution signals", and consists of three main themes. It has been noted that it can diagnose rotating machines regardless of signal resolution, including anomaly detection and thresholding, Fourier transform-based variable signal generation, fault diagnosis, and noise cancellation considering the dynamic characteristics of the system.
