PhD student Sooho Kim of the Laboratory for System Health & Risk Management (Director: Prof. Byeng Dong Yon) received Outstanding Presentation Award at the International Conference on Energy and Sustainability (ICES) 2018, held from Oct 17-19, acknowledged for the originality and excellence of his research.

The research is titled “Physical Analysis of Latent Feature Space inside End-to-end One Dimensional Convolutional Neural Network for Fault Diagnosis.” It analyzes the physical implications of convulational neural network (CNN) utilized for the prognosis of system failure, and provides a practical example of diagnosing faults of a planetary gearbox system.
