Dr. Dong-Hyeon Kim of Innovative Design and Integrated Manufacturing Lab (Director: Prof. Sung-Hoon Ahn) was selected as a Research Affiliate by CIRP (The International Academy for Production Engineering) in March 2018.

CIRP is an internationally renowned organization, leading scientific research in manufacturing processes, metal machining, and machine tools, in addition to management, control, optimization and design of manufacturing systems.

CIRP consists of 170 Fellow Members, 130 Associae Members, 140 Corporate Members, and 100 Research Affiliates, selected through a highly strict evaluation. The Research Affiliate program aims to create a sustainable network of young researchers with outstanding achievement in the field of production engineering. Candidates must be under 36 and have at least 3 years of experience as a doctoral or post-doctoral student.

 
Dr. Dong-Hyeon Kim was nominated as a candidate by Prof. Dong Yol Yang (KAIST retiree) of Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST). Currently, there are 3 Research Affiliates in Korea including Dr. Kim. He is able to participate in CIRP conferences without invitation, carrying out international academic exchange.
