Introduction of New Professor Seung Hwan Ko
After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Yonsei Mechanical Engineering, Masters from SNU Dep. of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and Doctorate from UC Berkeley in 2006, Professor Ko worked as a research at the UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Lab as a post-doc until April 2009. After working as an assistant professor in KAIST mechanical and aerospace engineering, from May 2009 to August 2013, he was employed at SNU Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering as an assistant professor from September 2013 onwards. <?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
His research fields are Synthesis of various nanomaterials, NM process development and application of the latest electronic elements, with the main application field being ‘flexible electronics’, ‘Stretchable Electronics’ and ‘wearable electronics’. The main flexible electronics device he is working on is the ‘flexible display’, with examples of wearable devices being the “Google Glass”, and “Smart Watches” by Samsung and Apple. He plans to continue development from a mechanical perspective which can implement these latest electronics. Apart from these, he also plans to continue research on high efficiency energy elements(Solar, fuel cells, supercapacitors, etc) using hierarchical nanostructures and new generation digital processes using lasers.
