5. 내 용 : Topology optimization is the most flexible optimization method that can simultaneously deal with geometrical and topological configuration changes, and has been extensively applied to a variety of structural optimization problems such as the stiffness maximization problem and eigen-frequency problems. In this presentation, a topology optimization method for the design of novel mechanical structures is introduced. First, a topology optimization method that uses the homogenization method for the relaxation of the design domain is briefly discussed. Next, several design applications of the homogenization design method to novel mechanical structures are presented. That is, mechanical structures that have a new kinematic or dynamic function, such as compliant mechanisms, mechanical resonators, mechanical actuators and sensors are designed using the homogenization design method. Furthermore, a concept of the topology optimization method is extended to the multi-physics problems such as the dialectic antenna and the photonic bad-gap structure design problems. Finally, a new type of topology optimization method, i.e., the level-set based structural optimization method, and its application to the design of mechanical structures are also discussed.

현재 Univ. of Kyto 기계공학과 교수로 , 토요타 중앙연구소에서 자동차 선행
개발 연구를 거의 10여년 가까이 수행한 바 있으며, Univ. of Michigan
(Ann Arbor)에서 Topology Optimization을 학위 주제로 박사학위를
취득하였다. 현재 주 연구 테마는 위상최적설계에 관련된 연구로, 다양한 분야
에서의 위상최적설계를 응용하는 연구를 수행하고있다.
