Liquid breakup and turbulence generation were studied because of their relevance to the dense combusting sprays found in propulsion systems. The deformation and breakup properties of turbulent round liquid jets in uniform gaseous crossflows will be described. The properties of turbulence generation by spherical particles moving through a uniform flowing gas will also be discussed, emphasizing properties of turbulent inter-wake region.
