In this talk, I will survey the recent progress on the Cauchy problem of hyperbolic conservation laws. The first global existence of BV-solutions to 1D-hyperbolic conservation laws was established by Glimm in 1965 and the issue of uniqueness and its stability was open since then. Recently Bressan, Liu and Yang resolved the issue on the uniqueness and stability in Glimm scheme. I will briefly outline Liu-Yang’s robust nonlinear functional approach and its extension to the Boltzmann equation.
