Dispersion of Carbon nanofiber within epoxy by beam-type ultrasonic is carried out. Nanofiber containing epoxy system is used producing hybrid prepregs and the resulting hybrid composites' mechanical strength showed improvement.
The possibility of nanoparticle dispersion and interfacial strength improvement by plasma surface polymerization for Nanocomposites are demonstrated from its application to wood powder (ave. size = 138.22㎛) and quinacridone red powder. Hexamethyl-disiloxan is used to coat wood powder and quinacridone red powder, respectively, since it showed highest surface energy than other monomers. Plasma surface coating on wood powder also showed good dispersion and improved mechanical strengths of wood powder reinforced composites. Plasma surface treatment on quinacridone red powder provided great dispersion as well. This may be due to the enhancement of compatibility of the particles within the matrix.
