1. 제 목 : Prediction of Transonic Flutter
2. 연 사 : Dr. Guntam SenGupta (The Boeing Company, Seattle, WA, USA)
3. 일 시 : 2004년 10월 18일 (월) 14:00 - 15:00
4. 장 소 : 서울대 신공학관(301동) 117호 세미나실
5. 내 용 : Prediction of transonic flutter characteristics is an important step in designing an airplane. It is because nonlinear effects play an important role in transonic flow, giving rise to shocks, which are not predicted by linear methods. This presentation describes various methods for predicting transonic flutter in the industry. It discusses various methods for interpolation of structural vibration modes to the aerodynamic mesh describing the geometry of the airplane. It also discusses various methods of adjusting doublet lattice predictions to include transonic effects, based on wind tunnel and/or steady CFD data. Finally, it provides a snapshot of the challenges and opportunities for applying unsteady CFD-based methods for predicting transonic flutter for real airplanes and correlating with wind tunnel and flight test data.
6. 약 력 : Dr. Gautam SenGupta is currently with the Boeing Company, involved in developing and validating CFD-based methods for predicting transonic flutter characteristics of airplanes. His recent work involved simulation of effect of static aeroelastic deflection and wind tunnel wall interference in flutter testing. He has over thirty-five years of experience in aerospace industry in the areas of Aeroelasticity, Structural Dynamics and Structural Acoustics. Prior to joining Boeing, he spent a year at NASA-Langley. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Southampton, England (1970), and his B. Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He is an Associate Fellow of AIAA and is an Affiliate Professor at the University of Washington.
