5. Abstract:





Since conventional cell fluid-fraction approaches use the donor-acceptor procedure for the transport of volume of fluid like SOLA-VOF, it cannot transport the interface shape with sufficient accuracy. In the present study, a new algorithm for interface advection and its reconstruction, named MARS (Multi-interfaces Advection and Reconstruction Solver), has been developed. It consists of the continuum surface force (CSF) model as a surface tension model in the momentum equation and a new sloped line-segment algorithm for capturing and reconstructing the interfaces between neighborhood computational cells. Moreover, a phase transition problem can be solved in the MARS using a well-known temperature recovering method. In the MARS, the momentum equations allow the thermal property change and the energy equation includes an expansion effect. In order to show the potential of the MARS, some examples such as the formation and agglomeration behavior of the bubbles in a bubble column and a boiling and condensation behavior in an enclosure are presented.
