Our Department Professor Yoon Byung-dong Donates Scholarhip

Professor Yoon Byung-dong, the CEO of OnePredict and a distinguished faculty member in our department, has made a generous donation of 120 million won in undergraduate scholarships for the benefit of his students. Professor Yoon has been consistently contributing to the school's development through philanthropic donations since 2018. On the 15th, our university hosted an appreciation plaque presentation ceremony, attended by key figures including President Yoo Hong-rim, Professor Yoon Byung-dong, Vice President of Seoul National University Development Foundation Kim Ki-hyun, Dean of Student Affairs Yoo Jun-hee, and Executive Director of the Development Foundation Lee Jun-hwan.

In a statement, Professor Yoon Byung-dong shared his aspirations, saying, "Drawing from my research and development experiences in both corporate and academic settings, I hope that my students will evolve into creative and practical global talents, capable of enhancing the value of AI technology, addressing societal and industrial challenges, and strengthening national competitiveness." President Yoo Hong-rim expressed gratitude, stating, "This scholarship, generously shared by Professor Yoon, will be instrumental in nurturing creative and enterprising global leaders in our university."

Dr. Yoon Byung-dong, who earned his doctorate from the University of Iowa, founded OnePredict in October 2016. He successfully developed and commercialized Guardione, a digital twin solution essential for industrial digitalization based industrial artificial intelligence technology. Currently, he is actively contributing to the digitalization of various industrial sectors, including battery manufacturing, petrochemical plants, and power plants. The company recently established a U.S. subsidiary, intensifying its global business efforts. Professor Yoon Byung-dong was recently appointed as a general member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and as a PHM Fellow (Master's degree).
