In August, Professor Ahn Sung-Hoon from our department, along with eight members of the research team, visited Arusha Technical College (ATC) in Arusha, Tanzania, where they successfully implemented smart monitoring IoT devices in the mechanical engineering workshop. These developed IoT devices notly monitor power consumption but also have the capability to monitor various environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, and harmful gases by incorporating multiple sensors. The research team applied these devices to 15 different types of manufacturing equipment at the ATC workshop, enabling remote real-time monitoring and management of equipment status. Professor Ahn highlighted that through this project, they aim to monitor the status and usage frequency of equipment supported by international Official Development Assistance (ODA). This will ensure efficient management and effective utilization of the equipment distributed via ODA, further strengtheninggoing international collaboration with Tanzania. Additionally, during their visit to Tanzania, the research team conducted various research activities, including hosting the ICEAS 2023 academic conference, participating in the SMART Entrepreneurship Competition, collaborating international joint ODA workshops, developing a smart grid and electric motorcycle monitoring system, and working a water supply system, among other initiatives.
