Cha Seok-won, a professor at Seoul National University, took office as the president of the Next Generation Convergence Technol

Next Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute (Yung Ki-won) announced the 21st that Cha Seok-won, professor of mechanical engineering at Seoul National University, became its 10th president. The term of office is two years from this 21<sup>st</sup> to April 20<sup>th</sup>, 2025.
The new director Cha received his bachelor's degree from Seoul National University and his master's and doctoral degrees in mechanical engineering from Stanford University in the United States in 2004. Since then, he has served as Vice President of External Affairs, Seoul National University College of Engineering, Vice President of International Cooperation Headquarters, and Director of University Industrial Technology Support, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. He has made a wide variety of achievements in convergence research fields such as fuel cells, future mobility, smart manufacturing, energy and environment.
In February of this year, Ki-Won Yoon completed the appointment of the President of Seoul National University and the Governor of Gyeonggi-do, who jointly have the right to appoint, after a public offering of candidates and screening and recommendation by the Executive Recommendation Committee. Yonggiwon is a joint venture between Gyeonggi-do and our university, and is thely joint research institute between a local government and an academy in Korea. Choi Yang-hee, former Minister of Science, ICT and Future Planning, and Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the National Assembly, served as directors.
