Professor Ho-Young Kim was awarded October 31, 2022, at the 2022 Seoul National University Academic Research and Education Award (Research) ceremony held at the Jusan Hall of the Seoul National University Law School Building(Bldg.84).

Professor Ho-Young Kim is leading the world in the field of microfluidic/soft material dynamics and is applying it to the development of biomimetic mechanical technology. He revealed that fish gills, human lungs, and rice roots have optimal hydrodynamic structures, and developed a super-strong hydrogel actuator that mimics the root cell structure of a rock-piercing plant. These biomimetic soft mechanical technologies, conceived from the structure and movement of soft animals and plants, have been published as papers in world-class journals such as Science and Science Robotics. Prof. Kim was selected as a fellow member of the American Physical Society in 2017 in recognition of the achievements.
