The 'SEED' team, consisting of master's students Tae-Hoon Kim, Seung-Yoon Lee, and Yong-Chae Kim, from the Laboratory for System Health & Risk Management of Professor Byeong-Dong Yoon, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Seoul National University, received the Encouragement Award at the 2nd Big Data/AI University Student Contest for Digital Innovation in Shipbuilding/Offshore Industry of Hyundai Heavy Industries Group held from January 3 to February 18, 2022.
In the shipbuilding/offshore industry, the demand for technology using big data analysis and machine learning/deep learning is increasing conducted in all areas, from analysis of expected customers such as demand forecasting for ship orders, predictive maintenance for ship management, and optimal route service for ships, to facility and ship management, and accident prediction.. Accordingly, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group Korea Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (HHI) presented its own data in the Big Data/AI Contest for Digital Innovation in the Shipbuilding/Offshore Industry, to present real industrial problems and to improve work efficiency and reduce costs. The winning team was selected based the performance of the AI model and the logical validity of the model result.
