Last October, Hak Cheol Shin (Mechanical Engineering 75-79) was selected as the 31st Distinguished SNU Member'. ‘Distinguished SNU Member' is an award to commemorate the achievements by selecting a person who serves as a role model for the people of Seoul National University. It is awarded to those who have made significant contributions the development of the nation and human society.

Vice Chairman Hak Cheol Shin graduated from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University, and is contributing to the sustainable development of human society by raising the status of the nation based rich global experience and a firm management philosophy of sustainability. Vice-President Shin joined 3M Korea in 1984 and became the first Korean to become the senior vice president in charge of 3M overseas business (2011), after serving as the Philippine branch manager (1995), the senior vice president of industrial business at 3M’s U.S. headquarters (2005). As a professional manager with a unique location, he won the Seoul National University College of Engineering Proud Alumni Award in 2014, the Republic of Korea National Award in 2019, and the Grand Prize at the Korea Negotiation Awards of the Korean Negotiation Association in 2020. On November 24, a ceremony to celebrate the award of alumni Hak Cheol Shin was held in Building 38, Room 422 of the College of Engineering. In the lecture, Alumni Hak Cheol Shin focused how to lead the future as a leader. Don't be afraid to try new things. Expand your horizons. Focus what you can do well. Make a habit of studying for a lifetime. Networking and mentoring. Adapting to the environment • Emphasize humility. In addition, he expressed his will to keep LG Chem at the forefront of the future.
