Dr. Kyung Won Han obtained a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, USA in 2012, and a master's and doctoral degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University, USA in 2015 and 2020, respectively. She has been working as a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University in the United States since 2020, and is scheduled to be appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University from March 2022.
Her main research area is robot/device design and production, and in particular developing element technologies such as various mechanisms, actuators, and sensors applicable to the medical field. Examples include light and low energy consumption artificial muscles, haptic technology, and stretchable sensors, surgical robots that can be used as implants that guide the growth of the heart, and cardiac assistive devices.
