They will receive an annual research funding of 800 million won for a maximum of 9 years (total funding: 7 billion won), starting June 1st, 2021 from NRF. The lab will conduct research tumor-immunity cycle chips for cancer treatment clinical trials.

Prof. Jeon’s team has been a leader in microfluidics-based organ-on-a-chip research. They have been conducting research the design and manufacturing of the organ-on-a-chip and various tissue models. Financed by the Mid-Career Researcher program for 6 years at a total of 2 stages, they developed an eye-on-a-chip and created a model for eye diseases. The team plans to develop a tumor-immunity cycle a chip and conduct high-throughput screening, improving the efficiency of cancer immunotherapy as well as further suggesting a new paradigm of cancer treatment research.
