rofessor Sangwook Park received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Korea University in 2014, and M.S. and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Stanford University in 2016 and 2020, respectively. Before joining SNU in 2021, Prof. Park did his postdoc in the department of mechanical engineering at Stanford University.
Prof. Park’s main research interest has been studying energy conversion materials such as catalysts and photoelectrodes to produce green hydrogen from water splitting systems. Specific research topics are 1) Synthesizing and engineering energy conversion materials using thermal engineering, 2) Understanding activation mechanism of energy conversion materials by employing nanotechnology, 3) Sensitively analyzing thermochemical stability of energy conversion materials by utilizing the newly developed in situ characterization reactor and method in nanoscale.
His research team in ‘Clean Energy & Nanoheat lab. at SNU’ will focus resolving challenging energy and environmental problems. Thermal-, energy-, and nano-engineering will be employed to investigate 1) Green hydrogen mass production by developing energy conversion materials, stacks, and systems for water splitting 2) Greenhouse gas reduction & carbon utilization by nano-catalysis 3) Water & air purification techniques 4) Intelligent future strategies for green hydrogen production by combining renewables and water splitting systems.
