“Automated oil recovery system for marine oil spill response” has been selected ase of 10 Machine Technologies of 2020. It was developed by a joint research between Prof. Hyungmin Park’s Multiphase Flow Laboratory (Dr. Linfeng Piao, Ph.D. students Jooyeon Park and Hongseok Choi), Prof. Ho-Young Kim’s team, KIST (Dr. Myoung-Woon’s research team), and pollution control equipment manufacturer KOAI(CEO Kyung-taek Park). This technology allows ships without specialized pollution control equipment to easily and effectively collect and store the spilled oil at sea. The development of the equipment was supported by the Korea Coast Guard. The equipment will be distributed to Coast Guard stations for use.
