On September 10th, the Sudang Group announced the hosting of the 29th Sudang Awards ceremony at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, held September 9th. This year’s recipients were as follows: Prof. Dong-ho Kim (63), Dept. of Chemistry, Yonsei University (basic science research); Prof. Haecheon Choi (58), Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, Seoul National University (applied science research); and Chair Prof. Han-gu Lee (75), Global Academy for Future Civilizations, Kyung Hee University (humanities and social sciences). Each recipient was awarded with a plaque and a prize of 100 million won. The Sudang Awards were established in the name of the founder of Samyang Group Yeon-su Kim.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, a minimal number of attendees were present during the ceremony, which included the recipients. Yoon Kim, Chairman of Samyang Holdings, read the opening speech behalf of Sang-ha Kim, Chairman of Sudang Group. A history of the award, introduction videos of recipients, and acceptance speeches followed.
