Industrial AI solution venture company OnePredict is expanding its partnership with Switzerland’s robot automation company ABB. They will be collaborating on a project where products manufactured by ABB will be monitored real-time using IoT and AI technology, enhancing efficiency.
December 12th, OnePredict landed ‘Korea-Switzerland International Joint Technology Development Project’ organied by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology. This project, in which Korean and Swiss university researchers will cooperate, aims to develop and commercialize prognostics products for industrial motors and robots manufactured by ABB until the year 2022. Research teams led by Seoul National University Professor Byeng Dong Youn of Dept. of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, founder of OnePredict, and Dongguk University Professor Heung Soo Kim of Dept. of Mechanical, Robotics and Energy Engineering will be collaborating with researchers from Switzerland’s University of Applied Sciences.
OnePredict has collaborated with ABB in industrial robots and turbines. With this project, they are planning to actually supply industrial motors and robot prognostic devices to ABB. “Our partnership with ABB, a leader in robotics market, proves that our level of technology has been acknowledged,” said Prof. Youn. “This project is a significant opportunity for Korean technology to become global.”
OnePredict is a venture company founded by Prof. Youn and his four students in October 2016. They gained attention for ‘GuardiOne,’ a solution that predicts failure risk and residual life of industrial machinery by combining technologies such as AI, IoT, and big data. Their clients include power corporations such as Korea West Power Co. and Korea Midland Power Co. and Korean companies including Hyundai Motors, LG Electronics, and Hanon Systems. Their international clients include German manufacturer Schaeffler as well as IBM.
Prof. Youn said that “the predictive analytics industry, which uses data collected from industrial internet, is a high value added industry expected to grow to be over 200 trillion won by 2030. OnePredict will continue to expand and grow from the Korean market to global markets.”
