Professor Emeritus Jung Yul Yoo

 

National Academy of Science held a general assembly on July 12th, announcing the admission of six new members.

 

New members are SNU Professor Emeritus Jung Yul Yoo (fluid mechanics), Korea University Professor Emeritus Yong Woon Park (Korean history), SNU Professor Emeritus Su Il Kim (agricultural biochemistry), SNU Professor Emeritus Byeong-jo Choi (Roman law), SNU Professor Emeritus Gyung-ryul Jang (English literature), and SNU Chair-professor Ho-Dong Kim (Central Asian history).

 

Multiple eminent scholars are recommended by academic organizations in respective fields as potential members of the National Academy of Sciences. Membership is confirmed first by the judging committee, then by the final approval from the general assembly.

 

Membership is permanent, according to the National Academy of Sciences Act. Members receive various support from the government on academic research. There are 75 members each for humanities and social sciences division, and natural sciences division.

 

The membership conferment ceremony will be held on July 19th at 2PM at the National Academy of Sciences main conference room in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
