PhD student Jaehyoung Lee of Professor Seung Jin Song’s laboratory received Best Thesis Award at 2018 Korean Society for Fluid Machinery (KSFM) Summer Conference, held in Jeju Island from July 4 to 6, for his thesis titled “Measurement of Unsteady Flow in the Top and Bottom of Stators of Multi-stage Axial Compressors.”

The thesis was recognized for introducing a technique for measuring the unsteady flow field in internal axial compressors of gas turbines used for power generation and propulsion, and using it to physically explain the distribution of the flow field by measuring the field’s radius and the distribution according to its circumferential direction over time.
