[Emoney News] SNU Institute for Global Social Responsibility (IGSR) Completes Repairs for Solar Panels in Lang Tang, Nepal

SNU IGSR (Head Sung Hoon Ahn), revealed last 14th
that repairs for the solar generators in the Lang Tang Village, a disaster region of the 2015 Nepal Earthquake, were completed on Feb 2017.

The solar generators in the village were installed in August 2011 by the SNU IGSR at a place 2500 meters above sea-level. Installations included a 2Kw Solar generator, chargers and 80 LED lights.

IGSR received information on April 2015 that the generators were damaged due to the earthquake and were thus unusable through a tourist report. They began planning for repairs and completed it in Feb2017.

Additionally, the group installed rainwater filtration systems and other appropriate technologies to areas such as Homabay, Kenya and Bindin, Vietnam back in Jan 2017 . IGSR plans to take the lead international development cooperation through continuously monitor needs and reflect these technologies in new businesses as well.

On the other hand, IGSR has been continuously supporting businesses from colleges that link social contribution activities with knowledge from their field of major. The group has funded a volunteer excursion for 2 engineering teams during the winter break, totaling 6 teams supported by IGSR.

From 31st
Jan (Tue) to 7th Feb (Tue), IGSR has also conducted medical, education and installation activities in Manthali, Nepal together with the college of education, school of dentistry but mostly centered around the college of engineering, providing renewable energy, vaccine delivery systems, and public health care centers.

The group developed a safe vaccine storage run on small hydro generators, supplied self-refrigerating portable vaccine carriers and even administered vaccine shots to the locals.

SNU IGSR plans to continuously support the funding of overseas social contribution activities of various colleges to develop philanthropic talents that share their knowledge with the rest of the world.
