SNU College of Engineering (Dean Lee Kunwoo) said on 17th that the College awarded 70 Ph.Ds who achieved big accomplishments and contributed to development of industry. The ceremony was held at 17th noon on SNU Engineer house suite 310.
For this award, SNU College of Engineering set up plan and committee of selection and gathered files of total 7,649 Ph.Ds. And also, the College requested candidate to each departments and colleges. After reviewing all the files, the committee does final selection procedure.
There are 70 SNU COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING Ph.Ds contributing Republic of Korea including 32 Ph.Ds on education, 27 on industry, and 11 on research and other fields total 70 Ph.ds.
Renowned educators are President of Kangwon National University Kim Heon-young (Ph.D in Machine Design graduated on 1991) and President of Korea National University of Arts Kim Bong-nyeol (Ph.D in Architecture graduated on 1989). As a Chairman of school-industry consortium in Kangwon region, President Kim Heon-young build consortium among companies, institutions, and government sector and supported insufficient small businesses by matching them. And President Kim Bong-nyeol is a specialist on Buddhism architecture. He published the book, Architecture of Korea and keep published books and projects outside of the country. 
Renowned businessmen are Vice President of Samsung electronics Kyung Gyeong Gye-hyeon (Ph.D in Control and Measurement Engineering graduated on 1994), CEO of LG electronics Ahn Seung-kwon (Ph.D in Electronics graduated on 1992), and CEO of Humax Holdings Byeon Dae-gyu (Ph.D in Control and Measurement Engineering graduated on 1989). Vice President of Samsung electronics Gyeong Gye-hyeon developed DDR2 and DDR3 DRAM, major product of semi-conductor DRAM and on July 2013 he developed world first 3 dimension shape VNAND. CEO of LG electronics Ahn Ahn Seung-kwon contributed on foundation development and industrialization of electronics area such as communication and mobile. He is currently working as CTO and Chairman of committee of technology controlling whole R&D group of the company. And on 1996, CEO of Humax Holdings Byeon Dae-gyu developed digital satellite broadcasting set-top box on the first in Asia and the third in the world.
Renowned researchers are Honored research member of Science & Technology Policy Institute Lim Ki-cheol (Ph.D in Industrial Chemistry graduated on 1990), President of Agency for Defense Development Kim In-ho (Ph.D in nucleonics graduated on 1988). Honored research member of Science & Technology Policy Institute Lim Ki-cheol is a former Secretary to the President for Science & Technology. He does major role to found National Science & Technology Commission and Nuclear Safety and Security Commission and established institutional foundation. President of Agency for Defense Development Kim In-ho participated in developing guided missile system used in Republic of Korea Army and developed world class high explosive.&nbsp;
