[E-Newspaper] SNU Engineering & US Georgia Tech Engineering to Operate Joint Doctorate Degrees

SNU Engineering revealed last 19th that it will operate joint doctorate degrees with Georgia Tech Mechanical Engineering.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Yves Berthelot, vice chancellor of Georgia Tech Engineering visited SNU to sign the cooperation deal with SNU Head of the Department of Education. From this collaboration, SNU Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Students in their doctorate course can receive a degree through attending Georgia Tech Engineering lectures and participating in joint research for 1~2 years. Through the International Joint dissertation judging process, students can receive their doctorates in a much shorter time period. SNU Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Dean Professor Haecheon Choi said “We’re excited to have academic relations and exchanges with the world renowned Georgia Tech Mechanical Engineering faculty. We plan to expand joint degree operations with other foreign universities in the future”

This collaboration is the work of SNU Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering’s BK21 PLUS Transformative Training Program for Creative Mechanical and Aerospace Engineers. Long-term overseas exchange trips, education, research and other expenses related to receiving the joint degree will be funded partially by the BK21 PLUS International Relations funds.
