College students’ idea to prevent accidents in strollers has received a favorable response in an international competition. SNU Engineering revealed on the 11th that Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering 3rd year Dong Yeon Han’s student team’s (DongDuk Women’s University Business Administrations 4th year Ji Hye Lee, SSU Computer Science 3rd Year Dong Eun Kim) invention, the ‘Carry Wear’ received the Italy Inventor’s Association’s Special Prize, Thailand Inventor’s Association’s Special Prize, Qatar Energy Enterprise AGRI GREEN’s Special Prize and the Taipei Int’l Invention Show & Technomart’s Bronze prize, totaling 4 international prizes.

The Taipei Int’l Invention Show & Technomart is the biggest invention showcase in the Chinese speaking region with over 1000 projects from 22 countries this year alone. Student Dong Yeon Han and his team received support from the patent office affiliated Korea Invention Promotion Association to participate in this event, and was the person win the most prizes with a single invention among the Korean participants.

The ‘Carry Wear’ is a buckle type waist belt that can be attached to any stroller. The advantage of this invention is that consumers need not buy another special stroller to prevent accidents can the product can be used in any existing stroller.

The product also has additional functions that help walking with the stroller. One can use their waist to push the stroller with more ease, along with a 2 stage slide, 260 Degrees rotation, night LEDs and other options that makes the product more comfortable to use.

Student Dong Yeon Han said “Recently there has been an increasing number of safety incidents relating to strollers in downhill roads. The product has a national patent and the PCT-USA international patent pending. I hope to see this product commercialzed to be of more help to the consumers.”
